This photograph was taken on Hehuan Mountain in Nantou County, Taiwan.
The weather was exceptionally clear, and the snow conditions were the best
seen in years. While hiking with my camera and tripod, I spotted a beautiful,
heart-shaped pattern in the snow below to the left. Realizing that such snow
formations are fleeting, I was thrilled by the
opportunity and waited for the perfect moment to release the shutter.
Beyond the superb weather, the success of this image relied on several key factors:
using a top-tier German Rodenstock lens; employing a highly precise exposure technique;
and digitizing the film with a world-class scanner. Only through this combination could
the exquisitely clear and detailed image you see today be produced.
