This photograph of a train amidst cherry blossoms was captured using a Linhof 4x5 large-format camera. The camera features a floating focusing screen; by carefully managing the distance between the subject and the camera—and skillfully manipulating the movement of the focusing screen—one can adjust the size, position, and proportions of elements within the frame. This level of control creates a sense of spatial depth and perspective that standard cameras, even when using various angles, lenses, or positions, simply cannot replicate; the resulting three-dimensional perspective and aesthetic harmony are distinct. Furthermore, a keen eye for composition allows the photographer to subtly alter the perceived direction of plant growth using the Linhof 4x5, creating a harmonious image with a rhythmic quality—resulting in a truly unique photograph that is unlikely to be duplicated by anyone else. Had no one else used this specific camera model between 1997 and 2002, this image of the cherry blossoms in full bloom might well have made history, becoming a classic, iconic masterpiece.

The Linhof 4x5 large-format camera is somewhat cumbersome to handle; the image in the viewfinder appears inverted both vertically and horizontally, and one must use a dark cloth to see it at all. Mastering this method of composition requires time and practice. I had already been using this camera for over a decade before photographing the cherry blossoms, which allowed me to capture the scene successfully during their peak bloom. Back then, I was young; after taking the shot, I simply stored the negative in a dry cabinet, where it remained for more than ten years before finally being revealed to the world.

Film is a crucial medium for photography; before setting out, I would take six rolls from the refrigerator and load them into three canisters in the darkroom—enough for the entire journey. My choices at the time included Kodak 100VS and Fujifilm Velia (ISO 100); I opted for Kodak because cherry blossoms fall within the warm color spectrum. After developing the film, I stored the negatives in acid-free plastic sleeves and later digitized them. This simple routine has remained unchanged for decades, driven solely by the desire to capture beautiful images.
This image boasts exceptional clarity and softness, elegant texture, and vibrant colors. A timeless photographic masterpiece, it can be printed on fine art or watercolor paper, evoking an aesthetic quality akin to a painting. It makes for a sophisticated gift or a valuable addition to a personal collection.

這張櫻花下火車攝影，是用Linhof 4X5大幅底片相機拍攝的，它的對焦屏是浮動的，只要控制景物與相機的距離及靈活巧妙運用相機對焦屏的浮動距離，就可在對焦屏上構出改變景物的大小、位置，比例等的配置構圖，這樣完美的操作會產生景深良好的透視空間感，是一般相機直接對著景物拍所做不到的呈現，一般相機是可以利用不同角度與鏡頭或改變位置，但立體透視度與構圖美感就是不同；加上個人對構圖敏銳也可用Linhof 4X5相機讓植物生長的方向稍微改變，而構圖出有韻律及和諧的美麗照片，這張照片是很難再會有與其他人相同的照片出現了。如果1997-2002年間沒人使用這款相機拍攝，可能我這張櫻花盛況照片可寫下歷史，而成為經典的美麗照片畫作了。
Linhof 4X5大幅底片相機機動性較不便，視窗的呈現也是上下、左右顛倒，又必須在黑布遮蔽之下才看的到影像，這樣的構圖法，需一些時間練習使用與習慣，才能自如的操控，在拍櫻花前我已使用這台相機有十多年，在櫻花盛況時刻讓我順利的拍下它，當時我年輕拍完這張櫻花照片後就把底片丟進除濕箱內，保存了十多年後才拿出來與世人見面。
底片是相機重要的顯影片，出門前我從冰箱內拿出6張片子，在暗房內分裝到3個片匣內，一趟旅途就夠了，當時底片有柯達100VS與富士Velia感度100，我選擇柯達因為櫻花是暖色系，拍完沖洗後放入無酸的塑膠袋保存，之後再掃描成電子檔。這樣簡單的生活行為，數十年來從不間斷，只是為拍出美麗的照片。
本張影像畫質清晰柔美且質感優雅色彩艷麗，為百年經典攝影作品，可印刷在藝術紙上與水彩紙上，更感受到與畫作有著相同的美感氣質，送禮或自用都很得體且具有收藏價值。
